La Costa Oaks Neighborhood Watch
The La Costa Oaks neighborhood watch is underway. We have spoken to a number of La Costa Oaks neighbors who are eager to get the watch up and running. Here are a couple of things to know about the La Costa Oaks neighborhood watch:
1. It is not a guard duty, it is an organized method of communication to protect ourselves and our neighbors.
2. It will only be successful with volunteers. The backbone of the watch will be the block captains. Each block captain will be responsible for around 12-20 houses. They will need to go door to door to get their group of homes involved in the watch. They will also have to coordinate an in home meeting with the City of Carlsbad police and their group to discuss the neighborhood watch and how they can protect each other.
3. We CAN NOT stress enough that communication is imperative. We have had two burglaries in Stoneridge that were identical – the burglars were scoping out the neighborhood under the guise that they were selling the North County Times. Had all the neighbors known the details, then maybe the second robbery could have been prevented.
4. All of the La Costa Oaks home robberies have been through some form of open windows and doors. We know it is hot. We all try to avoid running our AC if possible, but please ensure that all doors and windows are closed and locked, and that your alarm (if you have one) is on when you leave!
If you would like to be a La Costa Oaks block captain, please email us at mmewborn@gmail.com. The sooner we have a number of volunteers, the better.
Also, we have set up this communication tool a La Costa Oaks Ning group. In Stoneridge, we had two wonderful neighbors who spent a ton of time going door to door, getting us all on the site to share information. We hope that you will use this group to stay in contact with each other. As we have more information – we will post it on the La Costa Oaks Ning group and on our blog.
In order to be approved on the La Costa Oaks Ning group, you will need to apply for membership. Then please email me at amymewborn@gmail.com with your full name, address, and your builder. Once I have verified that you are a La Costa Oaks homeowner, we will approve your membership and you can use this site to build neighbor relations and share information.
Thank you!
